Burt's Bees Borderlands 4 Guide: All Quests, Cosmetics and Exclusive Rewards

If you’ve logged into Borderlands 4 lately, you’ve probably seen pop-ups teasing the weird, surprisingly wholesome Burt's Bees Borderlands 4 crossover event that dropped earlier this month. I’ll admit I was skeptical at first—what does a natural personal care brand have to do with a looter shooter full of bandits and alien monsters? But after sinking 6 hours into the event content last weekend, I can confirm it’s way more fun than it sounds, with rewards worth grinding for even if you don’t care about the brand collab at all. This guide breaks down everything you need to know to clear every quest, unlock all rewards, and avoid the annoying bugs I ran into while playing through.

What Is the Burt's Bees Borderlands 4 Crossover Event, Exactly?

For anyone who hasn’t kept up with Borderlands 4’s post-launch content drops, this is the third brand collab Gearbox has rolled out since the game launched, and easily the most low-stakes, family-friendly one yet. The event runs for 6 weeks total, so you have plenty of time to work through it even if you only play a couple hours a week. Unlike previous collabs that tied into big movie releases, this one leans into Borderlands’ signature silly tone, with a story that has the Burt’s Bees founder set up a small outpost on Pandora to sell sustainable lip balm to bandits who are tired of chapped lips from the planet’s constant dust storms.

You don’t need to have completed the main campaign to access the event content, either—any character level 15 or higher can pick up the starting quest from the new NPC parked right outside of Sanctuary’s main landing pad. That makes it a great way to earn rare gear for new alts, not just max-level players. I tested this with a level 17 Siren I was messing around with, and all the event enemies scaled perfectly to my level, so I didn’t have to grind levels first to participate.

One thing to note: All event rewards are permanent once unlocked, so you don’t have to worry about losing your skins or gear once the event ends. The only thing that goes away after 6 weeks is the ability to pick up the event quests, so you just need to complete them before that cutoff to keep everything. It’s clear the devs put a lot of thought into making this collab feel like a natural part of the Borderlands universe, not just a lazy cash grab.

All Event Quests and How to Complete Them Fast

There are 7 total quests in the event line, 3 main ones and 4 side quests that unlock as you progress. Most of them are simple fetch or kill quests, but a few have hidden objectives that unlock extra rewards if you complete them. All of these quests are tied directly to the Burt's Bees Borderlands 4 event narrative, so you don't have to worry about them feeling disconnected from the rest of the game. I’ve listed the fastest way to knock out all of the core quests below, based on my playthrough:

  • Chapped Lips Crisis (starting quest): Collect 12 cactus sap from the arid regions outside of Sanctuary, then bring it back to the Burt’s Bees NPC. You can skip fighting most bandits on the way if you use a fast vehicle with good off-road stats, cutting the quest time in half.
  • Sustainable Supply Run: Defend the Burt’s Bees outpost from 3 waves of bandits who want to steal the lip balm stock. Bring a weapon with splash damage to clear groups of enemies fast, and prioritize the rocket launcher-wielding bandits first to avoid taking unnecessary damage.
  • Wildflower Rescue: Collect 8 rare wildflower seeds from the Eden-6 swamps to make new lip balm scents. Watch out for hidden swamp monsters hiding in the tall grass—they one-shot low-level characters if you don’t see them coming.

Once you finish all 3 main quests, the 4 side quests unlock automatically, all of which take 10 minutes or less to complete. The only tricky one is the quest where you have to deliver lip balm to 5 different bandit camps without being detected—if you get caught, the bandits will destroy the lip balm and you’ll have to restart the quest. I used a character with a stealth skill to make this way easier, but you can also just sneak around the edges of each camp if you don’t have a stealth build.

You’ll earn 1,000 event coins for each main quest you complete, and 500 for each side quest, which you can spend at the event shop for exclusive rewards. I was able to earn enough coins to buy every item in the shop after finishing all quests once, so you don’t have to grind repeats unless you want extra copies of the event gear.

Exclusive Rewards You Can Unlock

This collab has some of the most fun cosmetic rewards I’ve seen in Borderlands 4 so far, plus a couple of really strong weapons that are viable even for endgame content. I’ve been using the event shotgun for all my endgame runs lately, and it’s easily in my top 3 shotguns in the game right now.

The cosmetic rewards include 4 different skin sets for each playable character, all themed around beekeeping and natural outdoor gear, plus a new bee-themed vehicle skin and a custom HUD skin that replaces your health bar with a lip balm tube. The beekeeper helmet skin for the Gunner class is my personal favorite, it has a little mesh face guard and tiny bee decals all over the side. None of the cosmetics are locked behind a paywall, either—you can earn every single one with event coins from quests, no microtransactions required.

The weapon rewards are even better, in my opinion. The signature event weapon is the Burt’s Bees Lip Balm Shotgun, which fires sticky lip balm projectiles that slow enemies and deal continuous acid damage over time. It has a 20% chance to apply a “soothing” buff to your character every time you land a hit, which restores 5% of your health per second for 10 seconds. That buff alone makes it worth using for tough boss fights, even if you don’t care about the silly theme.

There’s also a new class mod for each character that boosts your elemental damage resistance by 15% while you’re in the event area, but it works anywhere in the game once you unlock it. I’ve been using the Siren class mod for my melee build, and the extra resistance has saved me from so many one-shot kills during endgame raids.

Common Bugs and Issues to Avoid

Like most new event drops in Borderlands 4, this one has a few small bugs that can be really frustrating if you don’t know how to work around them. I ran into almost all of these during my first playthrough, so I’ve listed the fixes I found to save you the headache. Most of these small issues are common for temporary events, and they don't take away from how much fun the Burt's Bees Borderlands 4 content is overall.

The most common bug I saw is the starting quest not popping up when you talk to the Burt’s Bees NPC. If this happens to you, just fast travel to a different area then come back to Sanctuary, and the quest should unlock automatically. I tried restarting my game first and that didn’t work, so don’t waste your time with that.

Another bug that a lot of players are reporting is the wildflower seeds not spawning in Eden-6. If you don’t see any seeds after 5 minutes of searching, log out of your game and log back in, and they should spawn in the usual locations. This bug only affects about 10% of players right now, but Gearbox says they’re rolling out a patch to fix it by the end of the week.

The last issue to watch out for is the event coins not counting correctly if you complete quests in co-op mode. If you’re playing with friends, make sure you’re the one who picks up the quest reward chest, otherwise you might not get your full coin reward. It’s a small annoyance, but it’s easy to avoid once you know about it. Co-op play does give you a 20% bonus to event coins, so it’s still worth playing with friends even with that small bug.

At the end of the day, the Burt's Bees Borderlands 4 crossover is a silly, low-pressure event that’s well worth your time even if you have zero interest in the brand behind it. The rewards are useful, the quests are short and fun, and it’s a nice break from grinding the same endgame raids over and over. You have 4 more weeks to get through all the content as of publishing, so carve out a couple of hours this weekend to check it out—you won’t regret it.
